Hi guys! How are you? Laurent Bleu from FRiLuk. So yeah London is burning! Oh my god what is this heatwave? Let me take out the sunglasses... This is absolutely crazy...We live in England with my family more or less for 2 years, 2 years and a half, and oh my gosh! That's kind of really hot for England!

Anyway, I was thinking...yeah with this heat, the level of pollution in the air must be grrrrr...not good at all. And you know, that's not good for the environment, it's not good for us, so I was thinking, well what can we do about it? Well, not much actually, I mean we cannot control the weather :-)

But you see we are working on some cool stuff at FRiLuk and one of the cool stuff we are working on it's actually... those little sunglasses. What's cool about them is that they are made of bamboo! Yeah...bamboo sunglasses!

One thing that people don't necessarily know about bamboo it's how it can...save the planet! Well, save the planet might be a little bit, huh, slightly OTT...but actually there are several things about bamboo that people don't necessarily know. So in this video, I want to go through the 5 main things, amazing things about bamboo so stay with me and we go to number 1.

So Number 1 is Bamboo is a renewable resource, very sustainable. Why is that? It's because depending upon which species we are looking at, bamboo can be harvested between 1 and 5 years.

It's actually the fastest growing plant on planet Earth! In a single day, it can grow up to 3 inches which is about 7.5 cm. For instance, if I look at regular hardwood such as oak, you need to wait 40 years until the oak tree is mature to be harvested. While with the bamboo, it's faster and it doesn't need to be replanted, it grows from its sophisticated root system, which is amazing.

No.2? Bamboo absorbs greenhouse gases, I mean like any other plants. Plants absorb carbon dioxide, but the thing is bamboo actually releases 35% more oxygen into the atmosphere than any regular plant.

No. 3: Very little waste. You see once we harvest the bamboo, 98% of it can be used to produce products. That's actually far more than any other tree that we harvest to make furniture for instance, or other different products made of wood. 98% of the bamboo is actually used to produce those products, so...no waste!

No. 4: Bamboo requires no agricultural chemicals to grow. Forget about fertiliser, pesticides, herbicides, no need at all. Again thanks to the amazing properties of the bamboo, it just uses its amazing root system, little water, and can regrow, there is absolutely no damage to the soil which is green and it's good :-)

At last, the 5th one, which is one of the most important for me as well, actually the bamboo production and the manufacturing of bamboo products gives job opportunities.

You see there are certain areas on the globe such as South Asia, where people are in need of social and economic stability and bamboo helps those areas to remain competitive and to promote the stability of those countries. Again that's not only about the environment, but about people and that's we like as well at FRiLuk.

All about Bamboo guys! I think that you will appreciate that not everybody knows all those types of properties about bamboo and how it can positively affect the environment, the planet and the people as well!

Anyway guys, I wish you an amazing day, if you like the video, give it a thumb up! Don't forget to subscribe to this channel, there will be a lot more videos to come: educational videos, we will do product reviews, a lot of things. Thank you again for watching, I wish all of you an amazing day and I see you in the next video.
